Fabulously Frugal Fall Fashion Challenge: The Stripes Challenge and Features

Thanks so much to those of you who participated last week in the Fabulously Frugal Fall Fashion Challenge: The White Challenge!  Before we go on to this week’s challenge looks, here are our favorites from last week!

You can tell that Florida is ready for fall.  Each of our featured looks are from readers in our home town of Tampa, FL.

Marcy, designer and blogger for the site k.a.i-y.a put
together this sweet outfit from items in her closet.
Marcy’s little muse even got in on the challenge!
Minh looks great in this outfit put together from
items she already owned!  We adore that sweater!

Anh-Kay rocked her look by adding in HOT
cowboy boots!  Way to use the BONUS accessory!!

Now on to this week’s challenge:  The Stripes Challenge

Bonus Accesory:

Here is a reminder of the rules:

  • Recreate a similar outfit head-to-toe.  This can mean that you recreate 1, 2, 3 or all 4 of the looks featured this week.
  • Create your very own look inspired by the photos we have posted
  • Use the bonus accessory in your completed look
  • Create an outfit inspired by the bonus accessory

This is where the FRUGAL part comes in.  The looks you create must be made up from:

  • Garments/accessories you find at a thrift store/consignment store/yard sale/etc.
  • Garments/accessories you already own.
  • Garments/accessories you create.

You have until this Friday to recreate the outfit(s) and blog about them. Make sure to tell us where you found the pieces and how much (little) you spent on them. Don’t forget to add the button below to your blog post, and we would LOVE if you became a follower.

Come back to AquaSeventy6 on Friday to see how we have recreated the looks, as well.  You are invited to add the link to your blog post on our comments section and the following week we will feature our favorite looks on our site and our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Don’t have a blog, but you still want to join in?  NO PROBLEM!!  Create your look, upload the photos to a share site (ie: Photobucket) and add the link, as well as the purchase/cost details, in our comments section on Friday for a chance to have your look featured.  You may also email your look by clicking on the email tab in our sidebar and using the word “STRIPES” in your subject line.

Magazine Rack Redo

I have a bit of an obsession with magazine racks, especially the old-school wood ones. While I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across the perfect rack for my guest bathroom.  Yes.  I said BATHROOM.  Every bathroom in my home (other than the kids’ bath) has its own fully-stocked magazine rack.  I don’t know about you guys, but the only privacy I seem to have these days is when I lock myself up in the john.  Why not use the time to catch up on my reading? 🙂

This super sturdy rack caught my eye at a Salvation Army in Wesley Chapel, FL.

Lucky for me it was blue tag day, so I snatched this up for $3.50
Here she is after two coats of Annie Sloan Provence.

I decided not to distress this piece.  I loved it just the way it was.

I used only Clear Wax.
Here it sits, in its new home, the Powder Room, fully stocked with local magazines. Perfect for when our out-of-town guests come to visit.
